Golfito

Very sad, this was what happened to our flag in Alma! We now have a new one, swapped it for a very big British flag in the yachtclub in Puntarenas.

Hello to all our family and friends!

We are on the move again! We finally got our parts, what a lot of problems and delays, but at last everything is there. Now we just have to install it all, but we decided we wanted to get out of Puntarenas. We had a great time there, but there is not a lot to do and we really would like to find some nice, clear water so we can go snorkeling again.Left early morning; you have to leave with high tide, the river is very shallow in places and high tide was at 07.00.They give you an escort in a panga, the guy will guide you out. We could have done it ourselves, but they are very happy to provide the service and you can then blame someone else instead of yourself if you run aground!

SOME OF THE FISHINGBOATS COMING OUT OF PUNTARENAS

Well, that was some weeks ago!

Since then we have had a small engine problem, yes of course during the night! Trouble with the fuel line, but it all got solved after 5 hrs! Jeff was in the engine room most of that time and think we got some bad fuel from somewhere.

DRAKE'S BAY, VERY PRETTY!

We ended up in Golfito, southern Costa Rica and have been here for a while. Nice place, made new friends and have seen a bit of the town. Not much here and its not really the right time of year to go and do inland trips; too much rain every day. Doesnt even clean the boat anymore, it causes more trouble with mildew everywhere.

When we got here, we installed the new autopilot and found out this one doesnt work at all! We will wait till we are in Panama before trying to get another sent, here it is too difficult and expensive. Luckily the first one does work as long as we keep it at a minimum. We are not going very far in the next couple of weeks, so not a big problem.

THIS WAS TO BE PART OF AN ARTIFICIAL REEF, BUT SOMEHOW MANAGED TO ATTACH ITSELF TO OUR ANCHOR!

Plan is to leave in a couple of days, go the the Islas Secas for a while and do some swimming and snorkeling for a change! That will be really nice and we are looking forward to nice clear water.

THE BIRDSNEST JEFF TOOK OF THE MAST WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW WINDVANE!

We have managed to almost repair the rubber dinghy, still a small leak somewhere that we havent found. But what a luxury again to have a good dinghy, after weeks with the small Sabot, this is bliss!

THIS ISLAND, ISLA CANA, GETS HIT BY LIGHTNING THE MOST IN THE WHOLE OF CENTRAL AMERICA.

We havent done much, so not a lot to tell, hope there is once we are in Panama. Enjoy the pictures!
The next pictures show Gaby and Hans, an Austrian couple on a Prout 37ft catamaran. We spend quite some time with them here and are hoping to see them again in the Islas Secas, on the way to Panama.

JEFF AND HANS IN NEILLY, A SMALL TOWN ABOUT AN HOUR FROM GOLFITO, WHERE WE SPEND A DAY LOOKING AROUND.

A LOCAL BAR, IT WASNT OPEN AT THE TIME, SO CANT TELL YOU IF IT WAS GOOD!
