Magdalena Bay!

HI!
Well, here we are in Magdalena Bay. We had a good trip, learned a bit more about the boat and are very happy with here!
The crew is doing wonderful, we are in the company of Sunday , our sistership and will be going further south tomorrow. Internet acces here is not too available, so it might be a while before the next info, will hgave some pics reday as well then. Plan is to go to Cabo San Lucas, around the corner into Sea of Cortez for a little while. Staying with Sunday for a bit, its nice to share all this with good friends. Meeting lots of new boats again, even a guy who plays the bagpipes, am sure he and Jeff will have lots to talk about!

Yesterday we took a panga ( local fishing/transport boat) out with about 9 people to go whale watching. Its the end of the season, but still saw about 6 whales. I had never seen them so close up before, they are very big and beautiful!
Anyway, not a lot more to tell, the trip was lovely, but apart from lots of cruiseships, one turtle and loads of birds, we didnt see much on the way down. Were too far from the coast maybe to see whales, they tend to stay closer inshore.

Next stop, Cabo!

Hi Jeff and Jose, it´s so good to be able to keep up with your adventures.
Things back here in Almadena are all about the same, very boring when compared to your travels, but we are still enjoying.
We now have our own Yacht, a very venerable Mercedes Hymer in which we have travelled through Portugal, Spain and France, we enjoy it very much and our little dog Scruffy, does as well.!

We are happy in Culebrita, working hard and having fun as well. Still together with our friends Robbie and Pete and Bob and Claudia. We will be here till the hurricane season, then plan to go back to Curacao. Here's what has happened since leaving Cartagena. We made a decision to spend Christmas with Bob and Claudia ( S/V Flashback) in Culebra in the Spanish Virgin Islands. Leaving Cartagena with the “promise” of a weather window of light winds and reduced current we sat of up the coast past Barranquilla with its dangerous river outflow of debris and on up to Santa Martha for a quick rest in Rodadero Beach. Just around the corner of the coast from there lie the famous 5 Bays which offer good protected anchorages while we waited for favorable winds to carry us along the 120 mile stretch to Cabo de la Vela. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!! Its been a long time since our last blog entry, in fact just over three years, so we will do our best to bring you up to date with all our goings-on! As with most years in 2015 the few months of the cyclone season are not the time to be sailing very far from home and a number of very pleasant snorkeling expeditions a few miles down the road to the Cousteau resort were about as adventurous as it got ! In April we attempted to go for a sail with friends and as we left the mooring half our folding propeller fell off and that little trip was canceled! That same evening we heard the terrible news that our friend Bernard, whose wedding we had attended in 2014, had fallen into the natural hot springs and had received massive burns from the super heated steam. More then 70 % of his skin was affected. He was transported to Suva where regrettably he passed away a few days later. It was a very sad time for the yachting
